Oh wow, a thumbnail for a now cancelled video. wiowza.
I was planning to make a video talking about the Spanish Sonic horror web series "Tail's Dark Diary"
The main reason why I went against it was because some of the content in the series, mainly a pattern of violence that include gross hints of sexualization happening to child/child like sonic charatcers.
Now, I personally think that these things happening in the series wasnt "The Writer's Poorly Disguised Fetish" or anything. It seems like to me at least, just shock value type things based on already established horror tropes. in fact I belive the canonical ages of the charatcers at the time were just flat out ignored. (and that also brings up the mess of sonic charatcer ages and the dubious/no longer existing canonicity of the ages but I digress)
however it still made me personally uncomfortable the more I thought about it, espically with a scene of a possessed Tikal for some fucking reason while attacking Charmy Bee having disgusting sexual undertones and I just tapped out. (nothing extremely explict happens, it is a youtube series but still fucking UGH)
I think Horror media is allowed to have fucked up shit, but I cannot wrap my head around the purpose of that scene other than pure shock value.
The only reason I was even thinking about it was due to a video by CAMG talking about the series and I noticed the series goes in the direction of making the main villian/charatcer Tails, basically a Trans Woman. As a trans person myself I wanted to analyze it on that front along with themes/imagery related to religon, and queerness. but... like....??? I have my own limits and the series pushed those limits many times and I did not feel comfortable making the video at all or touching the series with a ten foot pole anymore.
so yeaghhhhh blegh.
At least the art I made for the thumbnail is nice.
